Hydrotherapy, also known as aquatic therapy, is a gentle, engaging and highly effective treatment option for children with physical and neurological challenges. This specialised therapy is delivered in a warm water environment and combines play with meaningful purpose which offers a unique way to support development.
As the benefits of several complementary therapies become more fully realised, hydrotherapy is also gaining recognition for its ability to enhance traditional land-based therapies.
What is hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy involves therapeutic exercise in a warm-water pool, utilising the natural properties of water - buoyancy, resistance and warmth - to create a unique rehabilitation environment. The water allows children to move more freely and safely by reducing the impact of gravity. Resistance also helps build strength and the warm temperature of the water aids muscle relaxation and pain relief.
Sessions are held at local aquatic centres that are carefully selected by us, depending on your child’s specific needs. This flexibility ensures that every child receives the most suitable and effective care.
